Reed's Process by reed682 Reed's Process by reed682
So I thought it would be fun to post my process for my digital illustrations. It's REALLY huge so beware.

The image I was working with can be found here [link] .

I'm on CS4. The interface is very similar to CS3. Where do I find live trace there? And that's really cool. And I agree, the whole process is protracted and tedious. But I think your process is a tad easier compared to the fact that I trace all my lineart by pen tool. :<

If you place an image the top tool bar should have a button for live trace.

There are good points and bad points. I still fiddle with the vectors after wards and it can be tedious fixing things. Just really what works. :)

Well at least it works. Are the settings for livetrace on CS3 and 4 the same?

Yeah, as far as I can tell. some of the buttons were reordered I think, but it works the same.

There were no improvements on the part of CS4?

I'm not sure. It might function better, but I haven't really noticed a change.

Hm. Perhaps.

Or maybe Adobe's just giving us rearranged crap that didn't really change. o_O

Maybe so. I wouldn't put it past them.

Heh, I was expecting you to use the black and white image as a layer with the multiply render mode and place colour layers under that.

I guess you turn it into a vector so you can scale it for printing?
